Dave Standley
Dave Standley is a founding member of the Virginia Tech Ice Hockey Club and has been with the team since its inception. Growing up in the Northeast, Dave played hockey as a youth and up until the time he arrived at Virginia Tech in 1981. Once at Virginia Tech, Dave would play pickup hockey on the ponds with his friends, and it was on one of these skates in 1984 that the idea to form a club program was ignited. After a year of paperwork, the Virginia Tech Ice Hockey Club was approved, and the fall of 1985 brought the first competitive games of the inaugural season. Since graduating in 1986, Dave has remained in close contact with the team as an alumni representative, mentor, and photographer, and is currently the assistant coach.
