Joey Mullen
Joey Mullen is entering his 15th year at the helm for the Hokies (19th season overall). Before arriving at Tech, Mullen began his college coaching career across the New River Valley with Radford. In his first season at Virginia Tech (2010-11), Mullen guided the Hokies to the ACHA Southeast Regional, where they picked up a signature win over Liberty in the tournament, advancing to Nationals for the first time in program history. The team would finish the season ranked inside the top 15, and their success would continue for years. Mullen is a two-time ACCHL Coach of the Year winner (2014-15 & 2021-22), amassing a career win total of 209, which is first all-time in program and ACCHL history. He is the nephew of NHL Hall of Famer Joe Mullen. Following last season, Mullen has won his first ACCHL title, bringing the Admiral’s Cup back to Tech.
